COSTA MESA, Calif. --- Ryan Knapp, who will be a junior at UC Irvine in 2012-13, finished runner-up in the Costa Mesa City Championship that concluded Sunday at Costa Mesa Country Club.
Knapp fired a 7-under 63 on the Mesa Linda course Saturday to take the first-round lead and shot 72 on the Los Lagos course Sunday to finish with a 7-under total of 135.
Lyon Lazare won the title with an 11-under total of 131 for 36 holes.
Knapp placed 16th in the SCGA Amateur Championship in July. He and the 'Eaters open the UCI season Sept. 24-25 in the Saint Mary's Invitational at the Bayonet & Blackhorse Courses in Monterey.
