LONDON --- All three UC Irvine alums on the U.S. Olympic men's water polo team scored goals Saturday, but the Americans fell to Serbia, 11-6, in pool play.

Serbia (3-0-1) takes over the top spot in Group B with seven points and the U.S. (3-1-0) is second with six.  The Americans close out pool play Monday against Hungary at 7:30 a.m. (PT).

Ryan Bailey led the U.S. with two goals Saturday while Jeff Powers and Tim Hutten added one each.

Bailey's first goal of the game pulled the Americans within 4-2 at the 6:25 mark of the second quarter.

Powers nailed a long-distance shot just four seconds before halftime to draw the U.S. within 5-3.

Hutten scored a power-play goal with 7:21 left in the fourth quarter and Bailey closed out the Americans' scoring with 2:54 remaining in the game.

Vanja Udovicic led Serbia with three goals.

Bailey has scored nine goals in four games, including eight in the last three.  The four-time All-American at UCI and 1998 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Year is one of the first two male athletes (along with Tony Azevedo) in USA Water Polo history to compete in four Olympics.

Powers is making his third appearance in the Olympics and Hutten his second.  Both All-Americans during their UCI careers, they were members of the 2008 American squad that won silver in Beijing.

Hutten was the 2008 recipient of the prestigious Peter J. Cutino Award given annually to the top player in the NCAA.
