NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. --- UC Irvine junior Ryan Knapp finished 16th in the 113th Southern California Golf Association Amateur Championship that concluded Sunday at Big Canyon Country Club.
Knapp shot a 5-over par 77 in the final round to finish with a 72-hole total of 300 in the field of 47 players who advanced to the final two rounds.
Scott McGihon, a 1991 graduate of UCI, finished third with a four-round score of 289 after carding a 1-under 71 Sunday.
Anteater sophomore Bhuvan Potluri also competed in the tournament but missed the cut after Friday's two rounds.
Bhavik Patel from Bakersfield won the SCGA Amateur title with a total of 9-under 279.
