AUSTIN, Tex. --- UC Irvine senior Amber Middleton ran just .01 off her personal-best time in the 100-meter hurdles, but did not advance out of the first round in the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Austin, Tex., Friday.

Middleton gave an all-out effort in her final UCI race Friday as she ran 13.72 in her heat, which was just .07 away from the last qualifying time for Saturday's quarterfinals.

Middleton ran 13.71 to win the event at the Big West Challenge Apr. 15 and that time is just .04 off the school record.

She was a three-time Big West Athlete of the Week this season.
