
UC Irvine Battles Top West Coast Schools When They Compete At Pacific Coast Intercollegiate

TOUGH TOURNAMENT FIELD AWAIT AT PACIFIC COAST INTERCOLLEGIATE: The Anteaters will compete at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 16-17) at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links Ocean Course. UC Davis and Oregon are the host schools for the tournament.
The course is a Par 72, playing at 6,034 yards. Teams will play 36 holes with a shotgun start on Monday at 8:00 a.m. then 18 holes with a shotgun start Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
The tournament field includes Arizona, California, UC Davis, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Washington State. Six teams in the field are ranked in the top 25 in the Golfstat.com rankings.
LAST TIME OUT: UC Irvine was fourth with a two-day total of 915 (310-300-305).
Michelle Park shot a 71 on the final round and finished in a tie for third with a three-round score of 222 (75-76-71), her highest finish of the year. Lalita Patipaksiri had her second consecutive Top 5 performance with a fifth place finish at 223 (76-71-76). She matched her season-best score with a 71 on the second round. Ronnie Valerio (80-76-80) and Brenna Carlson 81-77-78) tied for 36th with a score of 236. Michelle Yang tied for 41st at 237 (79-77-81). Playing as individuals, Taryn Yee was tied for 11th (78-75-74-227), Sara Banke was tied for 24th (78-83-72-233) and Sarah Baek was 74th (82-86-86-254). Yee was tied for the tournament led in Pars (35) and Par 5 scoring (4.83). As a team, UC Irvine led the tournament field in Par 3 Scoring (3.16) and Pars (157).
PATIPAKSIRI NAMED BIG WEST GOLF OF THE MONTH: UCI senior Lalita Patiplasiri was named the Big West Conference Golfer of the Month for March.
Patipaksiri finished among the top-five in both tournaments during the month of March, including a season-best third place finish (216) at the Juli Inkster Invitational where she competed against Top 25 teams Washington, California, Oregon and UC Davis. The senior also placed fifth at the Anteater Invitational with a score of 223. She recorded a season-low round of 71 in each of the tournaments played in March.
BIG WEST ON TAP: Following the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, UCI will compete in the Big West Championships on April 22-24 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. The Anteaters placed third in 2010 (925-306-306-313), the last time the championship was held at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. UCI has won five Big West Championships (2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2002).
