Connor Spencer named ESPN Zone Anteater of the Week.

Freshman designated hitter Connor Spencer has been named ESPN Zone Anteater of the Week for his performances against USC and Pacific last week.

Spencer hit .533 (8 for 15) over four games including a sweep of Pacific in the first series of Big West Conference play. He was 2 for 4 against USC and had a triple and a run in the series opener against Pacific. In the series finale Spencer was 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs.

His performance last week improved his batting average to a Big West best .426. He also has a team best five triples and is second on the team with 10 multi-hit games.

No. 29 UC Irvine (17-9, 3-0 Big West) travels to Cal Poly for an important three game series beginning Thursday April 5, 2012.
