No. 66 Anteaters Fall to No. 59 Hornets

SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- The No. 66 Anteaters saw their five-game win streak come to an end, 5-1, in a non-conference contest at Spare Time Indoor Tennis Courts against the No. 59 Sacramento State Hornets Thursday afternoon.

The two squads played singles first and did not play doubles as a result.

Marivick Mamiit (Los Angeles / William and Mary) was the only triumphant 'Eater in singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6.

Franziska Goettsching (Heitersheim, Germany / Faust Gymnasium) and Stephanie Hammel (Placentia / Valencia HS) each went to a third set, but neither could pull out the victory.

Even Courtney Byron (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame College Prep) went deep in her singles sets falling 7-6 (5), 7-5.

The Anteaters now stand at 13-6 on the year and 5-1 in Big West play. They continue their road trip to close out the regular season as they play UC Davis next on Sat. Apr. 14th at 11:00 a.m. followed by the University of the Pacific Sun. Apr. 15th at 10:30 a.m.
