SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- The No. 6 Anteaters left no doubt with five early goals to sweep the weekend trip in an 8-4 victory over the No. 15 Gauchos of UCSB.

UCI (19-5, 2-0) marched out to an early lead with a goal in the first before starting a second-period run of four goals to take a 5-0 lead. Michaela Pierandozzi (Whittier / La Serna HS) had two of those goals as she would lead the team in scoring for the match. UCSB (16-12, 1-1) finally got on the board late in the second, but the lead was back to five, 6-1, at the half.

UCSB scored to narrow the gap in the third, but UCI netted a pair early in the fourth to seal it and eventually win, 8-4.

UCI jumps to 2-0 in the Big West as it returns home next weekend to face UC Davis (Sat. Apr. 7) and Pacific (Sun Apr. 8) for a pair of 12:00 p.m. matches.
