
UC Irvine Finishes Fourth At The Anteater Invitational; Michelle Park Finishes Third

Dove Canyon, Calif. – Junior Michelle Park tied for third place to lead UC Irvine to a fourth place finish at the Anteater Invitational title at Dove Canyon Country Club Tuesday.
Host UC Irvine was fourth with a two-day total of 915 (310-300-305). Washington State led from start to finish with a 54-hole score of 904 (299-297-308) and was led by medalist Mallory Kent who won the individual title with a score of 220 (71-75-74). Brigham Young shot the lowest round Tuesday with a 302, but could not catch the Cougars after a three-round total of 910. Idaho finished third with a score of 913, while Long Beach State and UC Riverside were tied for fifth at 921. Cal State Fullerton was seventh (927), Sacramento State was eighth (938), Portland State ninth (947) and Montana 10th (950). San Francisco placed 11th (957) followed by Delaware (962), Santa Clara (964), Cal State Northridge (989) and Boise State (990).
UC Irvine junior Michelle Park shot a 71 on the final round and finished in a tie for third with a three-round score of 222 (75-76-71), her highest finish of the year. Senior Lalita Patipaksiri had her second Top 5 performance of the month with a fifth place finish at 223 (76-71-76). She matched her season-best score with a 71 on the second round. Sophomore Ronnie Valerio (80-76-80) and freshman Brenna Carlson (81-77-78) tied for 36th with a score of 236. Redshirt freshman Michelle Yang toed for 41st at 237 (79-77-81). Playing as individuals, Taryn Yee was tied for 11th (78-75-74-227), Sara Banke was tied for 24th (78-83-72-233) and Sarah Baek was 74th (82-86-86-254). Yee was tied for the tournament led in Pars (35) and Par 5 scoring (4.83). As a team, UC Irvine lead the tournamen field in Par 3 Scoring (3.16) and Pars (157).
The Anteaters will participate at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on April 16-17 before competing at the Big West Championships April 22-24.
