Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine men's volleyball player Carson Clark has been named this week's ESPN Zone Anaheim Anteater of the Week.
The 6-5 senior from Santa Barbara was a key player in two of UC Irvine's wins last week, including a huge victory against then-No.1 UCLA and then-No.12 UCSB. Against the Bruins, Clark recorded a match-high 21 kills and hit .447 (21-4-38). The opposite also had four aces, two block assists, and five digs. Earlier in the week versus the Gauchos, he recorded eight kills and four aces in the Anteaters 3-0 win. In total for the week, Clark averaged 3.62 kills, 1.00 aces and 4.75 points per set. His stellar performance also earned him Molten Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week.
Clark is ranked No. 1 in the nation for aces per set averaging 0.53 per game and he is 13th in kills per set at 3.62
UCI is ranked No. 1 in the country and is 16-3 overall and 12-3 in the MPSF. The Eaters' will travel to No. 13 Cal State Northridge Wednesday (Mar. 14) and No. 9 Long Beach State on Saturday (Mar. 17).
