Tommy Reyes' Career-Highs Get Voted Best in Big West This Week

IRVINE, Calif. --- Tommy Reyes (Rancho Cucamonga/Bishop Amat HS) was voted the Big West Player of the Week after posting a pair of career-highs in RBI and steals in three games to lead UC Irvine to a 3-0 record at the MLB Urban Invitational at Minute Maid Park.

The senior infielder batted .417 (5 for 12) with two doubles, a triple, three walks, three steals over the weekend. In UCI's opening game Reyes doubled and scored the game-winning run in UCI's win over Alabama State. He then went 2 for 3 with two RBI in the victory against Southern, reaching in four of five plate appearances and stealing a personal-best three bases. Against Texas Southern, Reyes tripled and doubled in a career-high four RBI, including driving in game-tying run for UCI in the second and the go-ahead run in the fourth.

It is the first weekly award for Reyes, who joins the Anteaters as the team takes on UNLV today at 2:00 p.m.
