Irvine, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's volleyball team received all 16 first place votes and is ranked No. 1 nationally in the American Volleyball Division I-II Men's Coaches Preseason Top 15 Poll released Friday.
This is the first time UC Irvine is ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll, starting the year ranked second in the country each of the last three years.
The Anteaters, the unanimous No. 1, enter the season ranked first after ending the 2012 season with a national championship and the final No.1 ranking. UCI was 26-5 overall, capturing its third national title in the last six years.
UCI will open the season with an exhibition against Concordia Jan. 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Crawford Court.
