UCI will travel to CSU Bakersfield Friday (Dec. 28) for a 7:00 p.m. game in the Icardo Center.
The contest is the final non-conference game of the regular season for the Anteaters.
The two teams met 19 days ago with the Roadrunners beating the Anteaters 71-64 in Irvine.
CSU Bakersfield out-scored UC Irvine 13-6 in the final three minutes to secure the victory.
Junior forward Camille Buckley recorded her first double-double with a career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. Buckley was 7-10 from the floor and 4-6 from the free throw line. She also added two blocks. Junior guard Jennifer Tsurumoto went 5-10 from the field and 5-7 from the free throw line to finish with 15 points. She tied her career-high with five assists.
The Anteaters shot a season-high 50 percent from the floor, but missed eight free throws (16-24) for a 66.7 mark. Bakersfield was 20-57 from the floor (35.1%) and 25-33 from the line (75.8%). The Roadrunners out-rebounded UCI 37-31, including grabbing 18 offensive boards. Bakersfield knocked down six three-pointers to the Anteaters' two. The Roadrunners scored 24 points off of 22 UCI turnovers.
Bakersfield was led by Amber Williams with a game-high 23 points followed by Tyonna Outland who recorded 17 points. Cebrina Johnson had a team-high eight rebounds.
The Roadrunners have won the last seven contests against the Anteaters and lead the series 7-1.
CSU Bakersfield is 2-12 overall after losing to No. 4 Duke 97-63 and dropping a 71-59 decision to UC Davis in the last game at the USC Women of Troy Classic.
Bakersfield, who is riding a five-game losing streak, has not won a home game this year (0-5). The Roadrunners last win this season came against the Anteaters.
UCI is 3-8 overall splitting a pair of games last week. Two of UCI's three wins have come on three-pointers by junior guard Kelly Meggs.
Meggs hit a three-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining to give the Anteaters a 71-70 victory over Utah State.
Buckley led the Anteaters with 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The forward went 7-12 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line. Tsurumoto added 15 points and four assists while playing all 40 minutes. Meggs ended the night with 12 points, hitting four three-pointers. The junior guard also recorded five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
UCI hit a season-high nine three-pointers in the win over the Aggies.
UCI closed out the road trip with a 58-42 loss at Utah. UCI's 42 points were the fewest by a UCI team since Dec. 21, 2011 when the team lost to Wyoming, 51-42. Senior guard Anete Klintsone scored all eight of her team-high points in the second half. She also had a team-best four assists.
UCI shot a season-low 23.3 percent (14-60) from the field with five of the baskets coming from three-point distance. UCI had a season-low five turnovers.
Tsurumoto leads the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game, which ranks 14th amongst Big West players. She also ranks eighth in assists (2.9) and minutes played (31.7).
Buckley ranks eighth in the Big West in rebounding (6.9) and is 10th in free throw percentage (.756). She is third in the league in offensive rebounds at 3.2 per outing.
