
UC Irvine Beats Concordia, 68-41 In Final Exhibition Game

Irvine, Calif. – Junior forward Jasmine Bernard had a game-high 14 and eight rebounds to lead UC Irvine to a victory over neighbor Concordia, 68-41 in the final exhibition game at the Bren Events Center Tuesday.
It is the second consecutive game Bernard has paced the Anteaters, going 7-18 from the floor in 17 minutes of action tonight. Junior guard Jennifer Tsurumoto followed with 12 points, while freshman forward Mokun Fajemisin had 11 points, four rebounds, three steals and a block. Sophomore forward Camille Buckley totaled eight points and eight rebounds. Junior Lauren Spinazze and sophomore Methlyn Onogomohu added six points each with junior guard Kelly Meggs grabbing six rebounds and dishing four assists.
The Anteaters missed just one free throw, hitting 16-17 and pulled down 58 rebounds. UCI shot 36.2 percent from the floor (25-69).
Sara Nicholson led Concordia with nine points, all on three-pointers. Katie Ogdon recorded seven points and Camesha Patton had a team-best six rebounds in the loss. The Eagles hit seven three-pointers on the night.
UCI led by eight (25-15) with 7:08 to go in the first half before the Anteaters scored 10 straight, the first six by Jasmine Bernard to give UCI a 33-15 cushion at 3:24. UCI would start the second half on a 16-6 run to push the advantage to 30 (53-23) with 10:50 remaining in the game.
