UCI will entertain Denver Wednesday (Nov. 21) at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Events Center.

This will be the first meeting with Denver. One team will pick up its first win of the year as both squads sit at 0-3 overall.                

Over the last six years both UCI and Denver have finished in the Top 5 of the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA non-football) All-Sports rankings. UCI captured the title in 2007 with Denver earning the top spot from 2008-11. Last year, UCI was second with the Pioneers coming in fourth. The Directors Cup ranks schools according to its overall success in post-season play across all sports for the year.

Following Wednesday's game, the Anteaters will participate in the Aggie Hotel Encanto Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday (Nov. 23-24) hosted by New Mexico State.

UCI will open the tournament against Drake at 1:30 PT Friday then battle either George Mason or New Mexico State at 3:00 or 5:30 on Saturday.

Drake won the lone meeting with the Anteaters 85-70 on Dec. 28, 1993 in Irvine. The Bulldogs bring a 1-1 record in to the game with UCI.

UCI and George Mason have never played each other. The Patriots enter the week with a 2-1 mark.

New Mexico State holds a 15-11 advantage in the series record with the Aggies winning the last contest 78-55 in the season opener on Nov. 14, 2008.

The Aggies enters the week 1-1 overall and will play New Mexico on Tuesday before hosting the tournament.

New Mexico State was a member of the Big West Conference from 1990-2000.

New Mexico State's head coach Mark Trakh has a brother, Maz, who was an assistant coach with the UC Irvine men's basketball team and currently serves as an assistant coach/player development for former Anteater player Scott Brooks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

UCI suffered two losses last week at San Diego State (63-53) and at home against Nevada (72-49).

Junior forward Jasmine Bernard leads the team in scoring, averaging 9.0 points per game. She led the team against the Aztecs with a season-high 18 points.

Camille Buckley leads the Big West in offensive rebounds with a 4.33 average and ranks ninth in the league in rebounding (7.3) overall.

UCI ranks second in the Big West in offensive rebounds (18.67), fourth in turnover margin (-0.33) and are fifth in steals (9.00).

Senior forward Pernilla Hanson ranks fifth in the Big West in steals (2.33) and 13th in free throw percentage (.750)
