U.S. Finishes Second At NORCECA Men's Continental Championship; Qualifies for FIVB Cup

Mayaguez, Puerto Rico – The U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team's lost to Cuba, 25-23, 29-27, 25-27, 19-25, 15-8 in the final of the NORCECA Men's Continental Championship in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
By advancing to the championship match, both teams have qualified for the FIVB World Cup in November and December. The top three teams at the World Cup will qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The U.S. Men ended the tournament with a 4-1 record, earning their 10th NORCECA Championship silver medal. Cuba (5-1) took its 15th NORCECA gold medal and second in a row.
UCI All-American Jayson Jablonsky had five points on five attacks in the championship match. The outside hitter recorded 18 points on 16 kills and two blocks throughout the tournament.
UCI head coach John Speraw served as an assistant coach.
