UC IRVINE PARTICIPATES IN IRVINE INTERNATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
Monday-Saturday, September 26-October 1

UC Irvine will participate in the UC Irvine International Monday through Saturday (Sept. 26-Oct.1) at Crawford Court.
The Anteaters begin the tournament facing Beijing on Monday at 7:00 p.m. then take on Japan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Argentina on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. UCI has Thursday off then will play on Friday and Saturday at times determined by pool play standings.
The tournament is the largest international professional men's volleyball tournament in the U.S. featuring six nations and eight teams. Participating teams include Drean Bolivar from Argentina, Toray Arrows from Japan, Sada Cruzeiro from Brazil, Korean Air Jumbos from Korea and Beijing BAIC Motor and Shanghai Tang Dynasty representing China. UC Irvine and Team Quiksilver round out the tournament field. The tournament, which is in its third year, is an opportunity for fans to see world-class players locally.
Drean Bolivar won the 2009 title, while Sada Cruizero captured the 2010 tournament.
The Anteaters won their first International Tournament match last year beating Zhejiang of China in five games.

CLARK TOPS RETURNEES: Two-time All-American Carson Clark returns for his senior season. The opposite ranked third in the country in kills (4.54) and seventh in aces (0.42) last year.
Also returning for the Anteaters are senior outside hitter Kevin Carroll, senior middle blocker Austin D'Amore and sophomore middle blocker Scott Kevorken. Kevorken was a MPSF All-Freshman selection last season. Senior Dan McDonnell and sophomore outside hitter Jeremy Dejno also return for UCI. Sophomore Daniel Stork should assume the starting setting duties this season.
