
UC Irvine Men's Volleyball Players In Action At The World University Games

Shenzhen, China -- UC Irvine's Carson Clark and Cory Yoder helped the U.S. Men's Indoor Volleyball Team defeat the United Arab Emirates, 25-21, 25-13, 25-20 at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China.
The U.S. Team (3-1) will complete pool play on Wednesday against Thailand (3-0) with the winner advancing to play for first-eighth while the loser will play for ninth-16th. Tuesday's U.S. victory came the day after the U.S. fell 3-2 to the Czech Republic.
Yoder added one point on a kill against the United Arab Emirates.
On the beach, UCI outside hitter Connor Hughes and USC's Maddison McKibbin won two matches defeating Costa Rica's Julio Alvarez and Raul Sandoval, 21-16, 21-13 in the first round followed by Italy's Matteo Cecchini and Raffaele Cionna, 14-21, 21-17, 15-13 before losing their third-round match to Poland's Michal Kadziola and Jakum Szalankiewicz, 21-15, 21-16.
The duo will play in the consolation bracket on Wednesday.
