
Matt Summers Earns All-America Honorable Mention Nod From CollegeBaseballInsider.com

IRVINE, Calif. --- Matt Summers (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) added another award to his resume, earning All-America honorable mention recognition from CollegeBaseballInsider.com
Summers, who was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 2011 Major League Draft, was the Big West Pitcher of the Year. The right-hander was 11-4 on the year, striking out 100 batters in 117 innings of work. He owned a 2.15 ERA, seventh-best in the UC Irvine single-season records, and joined an elite group after hurling just the fourth no-hitter in school history against Long Beach State. Summers pitched back-to-back complete-game shutouts to conclude the regular season and posted an 8-0 undefeated mark in conference games.
Summers also received All-America honors from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Association.
