CHARLOTTESVILLE, Vir. --- NCAA super regional action between UC Irvine and Virginia has been halted due to lightning and rain Sunday at Davenport Field on the campus of the University of Virginia.
UCI, the designated home team, is behind for the second day, 3-0. Due to bat in the bottom of the fifth are Jordan Leyland, Tommy Reyes and Ronnie Shaeffer.
Errors have proven costly for the Anteaters, who gave up unearned runs in the first and the fifth. UCI has managed four hits off Virginia starter Taylor Wilson but have left three stranded.
The game is expected to to be delayed as long as two hours, according to Virginia officials.
