
Baseball 'Spooktacular' Returns to Anteater Ballpark For Fifth Year

IRVINE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine Baseball "Spooktacular" event returns for its fifth year this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark.
UC Irvine Baseball invites the campus and community to this free event to watch the players and coaches conduct a full practice in elaborate Halloween costumes.
The 2012 Anteaters return 17 members from last season's squad and are led by All-Big West honorees, Ronnie Shaeffer (Garden Grove/Pacifica HS), D.J. Crumlich (Irvine/HS) and Jordan Fox (Hacienda Heights/Bishop Amat HS). Leading the pitching staff are returning junior Matt Whitehouse (Diamond Bar/Damien HS), senior Crosby Slaught (Santa Barbara/HS) and sophomores Andrew Thurman (Orange/Orange Lutheran HS) and Jimmy Litchfield (La Habra/Sonora HS). Five returning redshirts and fourteen newcomers bolster the Anteater squad.
Head coach Mike Gillespie enters his fifth season at UCI and has led the Anteaters to an NCAA post-season berth all four years. Last season, UCI won the Los Angeles Regional and advanced to the Charlottesville Super Regional, marking its third super regional appearance in the last five years and finished the season 43-18 overall.
Concessions will be not be available at Anteater Ballpark.
