Steven Melena, Rex Nelson Lead 'Eaters at Bill Dellinger Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. --- Sophomore Steven Melena and junior Rex Nelson led UC Irvine at the Bill Dellinger Invitational Saturday.
Melena finished 29th in 24:33.52 and Nelson 30th in 24:35.11 over 8,000 meters at the Springfield (Ore.) Country Club.
Junior Nick Osborne placed 42nd in 24:47.63, followed by freshman Matt Neev in 43rd at 24:48.82.
Sophomore Andrew Snyder placed 55th (25:11.49), senior Brennen Halliday was 57th (25:16.59) and senior Ryan McMonigle 68th (26:00.67).
Cameron Levins of Southern Utah was the individual winner with a time of 23:10.51.
UCI placed sixth in the meet with 161 points. Wisconsin won the team title with 24 points, Oregon was second with 59 and Southern Utah third with 104.
The 'Eaters compete in UC San Diego's Triton Classic next Saturday.
