Ryan Schlaich

Ryan Schlaich is in his third year as a member of the UC Irvine staff, serving as the men's basketball director of operations.

In his position, he oversees the program’s day-to-day operations, manages the numerous administrative tasks within the program, coordinates all aspects of team travel, manages all equipment operations, oversees the team managers and is responsible for all program purchasing.

Schlaich previously worked at NAIA Cal State San Marcos as an assistant coach, helping the Cougars to a 23-7 record and an NAIA National Tournament berth in only its second season of existence.  The Cougars ranked as high as sixth in the NAIA Top-25 and had a record of 4-0 against Top-10 opponents.

Prior to San Marcos, Schlaich was a four-year manager at California, where he was head manager for the 2011-12 season. During his time there, the Golden Bears went to the NCAA Tournament in 2009, 2010, and 2012, including winning its first Pac-10 Championship in 50 years during the 2009-10 season. Schlaich graduated from Cal in 2012 with a degree in American Studies.

Schlaich earned his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine, in 2014.

A native of Concord, Calif., Schlaich attended De La Salle High School where he was head manager for the varsity basketball team all four years.

He and his wife, Samantha, who played softball at UNLV, reside in Irvine.
