+Â The 20th-ranked Anteaters went to the 23rd-ranked Toreros of San Diego exiting with a 2-0 defeat. Two goals in the final 20 minutes were the damage by USD to improved to 5-1-2.

· UCI's offense has run through scoring leader
Misael Gonzalez Lopez with four goals and eight points. Six other Anteaters have three points including assists leader,
Hunny Yoo, with three. Five 'Eaters other than Gonzalez Lopez are responsible for the five game-winners

· UC Irvine entered the national rankings at No. 22 last week and improved this week to No. 20. It's the first time ranked since the 2019 preseason poll and highest ranking since 2015. The 'Eaters have slowly added votes each week going from zero in the preseason to five, 11, 24, and now 38 in the most recent poll. Their Wednesday matchup with No. 23 USD marked the 88th time UCI has faced a ranked opponent running their record to 24-55-9 in those games
· The Anteaters have earned four awards in the first five weeks.
Joe O'Shaughnessy picked up Defensive Player of the Week and
Gustavo Gonzalez scored Freshman of the Week the week prior, the first for each. Earlier, UCI took home a pair of Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors starting with
Isaac Powell after his game-winner over UCLA followed by
Misael Gonzalez Lopez scoring three times in two wins vs. Cal State LA and North Florida
Monday at the Lancers
