IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team completed their 2023-24 campaign in the Big West Championship quarterfinal round.
AROUND THE COUNTRY
UC Irvine played a multitude of matches that took them all around the country.
The Anteaters first true road trip was to the island of Oahu for a match with league foe Hawai'i. UCI and the Rainbow Warriors battled to a 4-3 result that went the way of UH.
UCI's next stop was in Northern California in mid-February before stops in Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin for matches to open the month of March.
The 'Eaters last big trip was to the East Coast over UC Irvine's spring break with two scheduled stops, but only saw one match against FDU which resulted in a 4-1 victory as rain came down.
SENIOR SALUTE
Emily Fowler and
Mia Totah both completed four years with the program at the end of this season.
E. Fowler appeared in the singles lineup seven times in 2024 where she earned a win at both the No. 4 and No. 5 spot. The San Diego native finished second on the team with six doubles victories en route to an All-Big West Honorable Mention doubles team nod.
Totah returned to the lineup after battling injury the last season with an appearance at the No. 3 doubles spot against Hope International with a 6-0 win with partner
Mikaela Hinton.
NO. 1 GRAD STUDENT
Jenna Schlatter departs after playing five seasons for UC Irvine. Holding down the No. 1 singles position for the second straight year, Schlatter finished the year with an overall record of 5-11 in individual play, 3-5 against league opponents. The graduate student played in six other matches, but they were left unfinished.
Schlatter was awarded a spot on the All-Big West Honorable Mention singles team for her efforts for the second consecutive season.
STELLAR SOPHOMORES
Pieces of the eight-returning freshman turned sophomores continued to make an impact during their sophomore campaign.
Carolyna Fowler was placed on the All-Big West Honorable Mention doubles team with sister
Emily Fowler for their 4-7 record together in doubles play including going 2-0 against Big West opposition. C. Fowler led all Anteaters eight overall doubles victories in the 2024 season. Additionally, the San Diego native earned six individual wins during the non-conference season.

Haily Huynh lead all Anteaters with 10 singles wins (10-10) including four in league play (4-4). Huynh has earned at least one victory at the No. 1, No. 2,  No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions with the most (four) coming on court four.

Larissa Teramura played at four different spots in the 2024 campaign and ended the year second on the squad with nine individual victories. Teramura played ten matches at the No. 6 spot where she earned four wins.
