IRVINE, Calif.-- UC Irvine women's soccer's welcome goalkeeper Alexa Peterson as their next newcomer.
Â
The 5-7 San Diego native was the MVP of her team at West Hills High School along with being voted Most Inspirational and taking home First Team all-league honors. On her club side, Albion GA, she was the captain for the team and the WPSL along with being named an Albion Ambassador. She also spends a lot of time away from playing as a soccer coach for youth teams, and enjoys hiking and playing guitar during the rare times she isn't in goal.
"Alexa is an exceptionally athletic goalkeeper who will thrive in our squad. She brings big energy and spirit to the field, and our coaches will shape that into another exciting goalkeeper. The goalkeeper tradition at UCI is rich and being under the guidance of Hall of Famer,
Danielle de Seriere, and Ludo Antunes is an opportunity for Alexa to go to the next level," noted head coach
Scott Juniper. The graduation of decorated sixth-year keeper
Glo Hinojosa means a fierce competition between Peterson and the three returning keepers of
Gabby Nelms,
Laurynn Ziller, and
Savanna Arruda for the starting nod.
