Box Score  PULLMAN, Wash. – Outside hitter
Marianna Bertolone had a match-high 12 kills in UC Irvine's 3-0 loss to No. 8 BYU at the Cougar Challenge in Bohler Gym on the campus of Washington State.
Along with Bertolone's 12 kills, the outside hitter added four digs and an ace. She recorded an ace in all but one match this season and leads the team with 10.
UCI hit a season-low .020 (29-27-100), watching the Cougars hit an efficient .363 clip (41-8-91). Each team had 37 digs, while the Anteaters out-aced BYU, 5-1. BYU out-blocked UCI, 13-5, the most blocks by an opponent this season.
BYU remained undefeated 8-0, while UCI goes to 2-6 overall.
