Women's Golf Takes On Pat Lesser Harbottle Field Next

UC Irvine will compete in the ninth annual Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational Oct. 2-3 at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash.

Teams will play 36 holes Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start followed by the final 18 Tuesday also with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Seattle U will host Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Houston Christian, Idaho, Montana State, Nevada, North Dakota, Portland State, Santa Clara, Scared Heart, South Dakota, UC Riverside, Weber State and Wyoming in the tournament field.

Tacoma C&GC is 6,087 yards course with a par of 72.

Senior Megan Yang will make her season debut joining Alyson Sor, Jasmine Chen, Kiana Briggs and Charlotte Ryoo in the Anteater lineup.

Pat Lesser Harbottle was the first female to play on a collegiate men's golf team, changing the landscape of women's collegiate golf. She is the only player ever to win the US Juniors, National Collegiate and US Amateur championships and first to hold The National Amateur, Western Amateur, Doherty Cup and South Atlantic titles in the same year. The 1955 U.S. Women Amateur Champion, Lesser Harbottle has been inducted into the State of Washington Sports, Pacific Northwest Golf, PNGA and Seattle University Hall of Fame. 

Following this tournament, UCI will round out the Fall schedule with The Clash at Boulder Creek on Oct. 22-23 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE
UCI finished 11th at the Molly Collegiate Invitational with a score of 929 (318-309-302).

Freshman Alyson Sor led UCI with a score of 225 (76-73-76), ending in a tie for 42nd place. She led the squad with nine birdies.

Sophomore Jasmine Chen posted the best round of the tournament with a one-under par 71 on the final round. She ended in a tie for 51st place with a 54-hole total of 229 (80-78-71).

Sor leads the Anteaters in scoring average with a 73.17 mark over six rounds.

Chen and fellow sophomore Kiana Briggs follow at 74.50.
