IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomore
Kassidy Sani has been named the Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Sani was recognized for her performance at The Battle in the OC where she won all three of her events to lead UC Irvine to a dual-meet victory over host Cal State Fullerton.
Sani was the top finisher in the discus by 25 feet as she notched a personal-record 165-10. She improved her previous best by 12 feet to jump six spots to No. 3 in program history. It was the best toss by an Anteater since 2019. The Cazadero, California, native also picked up her first collegiate victories in the hammer (154-02) and javelin (130-01).
This is UCI track & field's second weekly award of the season, first on the women's side, and the first career honor for Sani.
The 'Eaters will be back in action this weekend when they host the Steve Scott Invitational, April 29-30.
