Kayla Richardson Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

USTFCCCA NCAA DI Women's All-Academic Release

IRVINE, Calif. - Recent graduate Kayla Richardson has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Track & Field season as announced Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
 
Richardson competed in the 100m at the NCAA West Prelims where she established a personal-record 11.57. At the Big West Championships two weeks earlier, she accounted for 20 individual points and contributed to 18 points in the relays. The Walnut, California, native was UCI's first double champion in the 100m and 200m at the conference meet in 30 years, while she was also part of the Anteaters' first-place 4x100 and second-place 4x400. She was named the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Meet for her effort.
 
On the season, Richardson combined for six individual victories in the 100m and 200m. A two-time Big West Track Athlete of the Week, she established the No. 2 times in program history in both the 100 (11.57) and 200 (23.90).
 
Richardson recently graduated from UC Irvine with a master's degree in social science - demographic and social analysis.
