IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine Athletics broke records for number of gifts and total dollars raised during the University's 2021 Giving Day event on April 28.

Athletics collected 962 gifts, the most by any unit on campus for the third consecutive year. The total number of gifts surpassed last year's effort of 621, including 15 match/challenge gifts secured in advance.
The department raised $234,264.00, more than double the 2020 final count ($107,060) and topping the previous record of $143,370 set in 2019 by over $90,000.
Overall, the university raised $1,481,614 and received 3,517 donations. Athletics received 27% of all gifts and 16% of all funds raised by UCI on Giving Day.

Men's soccer received a department-record 158 gifts, while men's volleyball generated the most revenue the day of the event with $35,316. Baseball led the department with $51,810 total raised, including the challenge/match gifts secured in advance of Giving Day.Â
