The UC Irvine men's golf team sits in fourth place after the conclusion of the first round of the Orange County Collegiate Classic Monday at Coto de Caza South Course.
 
Second-round play was suspended due to darkness and will resume Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.
 
The Anteaters are co-hosting their season-opening tournament with Cal State Fullerton. They shot a first-round 297 to finish 10 strokes behind San Francisco, which leads the field (287).
 
Graduate student Jonathan Kang paced UCI's 5-count-4 lineup through the first 18 holes as he carded a 1-over 73 to tie for 11th. Junior Matt Gunson and freshman Darien Zhao are also tied for 15th at 2-over 74.
 
Junior Nathan Irwin tied for 26th (76), while freshman Kolbe Irei rounded out the group in 40th (79).
 
Playing as individuals, junior Ethan Han and freshman Henry Fitzhugh had the Anteaters' top two first-round scores. Han is tied for fourth after carding a personal collegiate-best 1-under 71. He had a team-leading five birdies including two on his final three holes. Fitzhugh tied for seventh at even-par 72 in his collegiate debut.
 
The second round of the Orange County Collegiate Classic will continue Tuesday at 8:45 a.m., with the final round to begin immediately after its conclusion.
