Men's Golf Wraps up Action at The Joust

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. -
The UC Irvine men's golf team moved up one spot in the team standings after Tuesday's final round, coming in 12th at The Joust at Goose Creek Golf Course.
 
The Anteaters saw an improvement in each round, finishing with a combined score of 906 (314-301-291).
 
Loyola Marymount (852) ran away with the team title, holding a 25-stroke lead over runner-up Washington State. The Lions' Gavin Cohen also earned individual medalist honors at 1-under 209.
 
Junior Matt Gunson carded a third-round 72 (+2) to move into the top-30. Gunson ended up tying for 28th with a 54-hole score of 223 (76-76-72). He had a team-best 10 birdies over the course of the two-day tournament.
 
Freshman Henry Fitzhugh also shot a personal tournament-best 72 in the final round. Overall, he climbed 13 spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 41st at 226 (79-75-72).
 
Graduate student Jonathan Kang tied for 58th (231), while junior Ethan Han tied for 64th (232). Junior Nathan Irwin rounded out the 'Eater lineup in 66th (233).
 
UC Irvine also had a trio of individuals competing, led by freshman Kolbe Irei, who tied for 55th (230).
 
The Anteaters will be back in action next week at the Sacramento State Invitational, March 1-2.
