IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine had 68 student-athletes named to the Big West Winter and Spring All-Academic Teams the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
Each of the Anteaters' winter and spring sports had at least one representative on the all-academic team. Women's water polo led the way with 15 selections, which accounted for more than half their roster. Baseball, men's track & field and women's track & field added nine honorees each.
 
Women's basketball (5), men's tennis (5), men's volleyball (5), women's golf (4), women's tennis (4) and men's basketball (2) also had multiple student-athletes earn all-academic accolades.
 
To be eligible for the Big West All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average, complete one full year at their member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically) and compete in at least 50% of their team's contests. Baseball pitchers and track & field student-athletes were exempt from any participation requirements.
