Today is the final installment of UC Irvine Athletics' top team performances of the 2019-20 academic year presented by UCI Health.
 
Anteaters Conclude Regular Season with Fifth-Straight Win

The UC Irvine women's basketball team closed out the regular season with its fifth-straight win, defeating Cal State Fullerton, 68-52, at Titan Gym on March 7. 
 
After starting Big West play with a 1-5 record, the Anteaters proceeded to win eight of their last 10 to tie for second in the conference standings, their best finish during fourth-year head coach Tamara Inoue's tenure. Their win against the Titans locked up the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the Big West Tournament.
 
UCI led for the entire second half, but Cal State Fullerton was able to pull within one early in the fourth quarter. Haleigh Talbert responded with a clutch 3-pointer to spark an 18-3 'Eater run over the final seven-plus minutes.
 
Talbert ended the evening with 15 points (4-7 3FG), six rebounds and three assists. Sophia Locandro added a team-best 16 points, eight boards and two blocks, while Lauren Saiki chipped in eight points, nine assists and three steals. Jayde Cadee also knocked down three triples for nine points, and Tahlia Garza registered eight points and eight rebounds.
 
UC Irvine shot a season-best 52% from beyond the arc, while holding the Titans to 17%.
 
The Anteaters, who also defeated Fullerton at home on Feb. 13, completed their second regular-season series sweep over the Titans in three years.
