'Eaters Tied for Fourth After Two Rounds at Sac State Invitational

ELK GROVE, Calif. -
The UC Irvine men's golf team is among the top-five after two rounds of the Sacramento State Invitational on a windy Monday at Valley Hi Country Club.
 
The Anteaters saw a 17-stroke improvement in the second round to move up three spots in the standings. They recorded a 36-hole score of 607 (312-295) to tie for fourth with CSUN. Cal State Fullerton holds a 13-stroke lead on the field at 589 (297-292). The Titans' Jack Dyer sits in first at even-par 144.
 
Senior Jonathan Kang led the 'Eaters as he shot a 149 (75-74) to tie for eighth. Senior Anthony Truong came in right behind Kang in a tie for 10th at 150 (76-74). Kang and Truong each fired off a team-best six birdies.
 
Senior Ramiz Jamal and sophomore Ethan Han saw the squad's biggest jump in the standings, both climbing 17 spots after the second round. Jamal is tied for 18th with a total of 152 (79-73), while Han is tied for 30th at 156 (82-74). Jamal's 1-over 73 was UCI's best round of the day. Han, who is making his 2019-20 debut, also had the first eagle of his young collegiate career on the fourth hole (par-5, 479 yards).
 
Sophomore Parker Lestz is tied for 47th (159).
 
UC Irvine returns to Valley Hi Country Club on Tuesday, March 3, for the final round of the Sacramento State Invitational.
