Sienna Lyford and
Madison Riggs led UC Irvine to a sixth place position after the first day of the Rebel Beach Invitational held at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
The Anteaters matched Long Beach State and Nevada in sixth place with a two round score of 595. UCI fired a 295 on the afternoon round, improving five shots from the morning. The team was second best among tournament teams in Pars with 122 and third best in Par 3 scoring 3.13 (+5).
Third-ranked USC is dominating the 11-team field, going 18-under par 572 (284-274). Five Trojans sit in the top nine places heading in to the final round
Lyford (74-73) and Riggs (76-71) are tied for 18
th after shooting a two round score of 147. Riggs had the low round of the day, firing a 71 on the second round with three birdies.
Angela Bagasbas, who was one-under on Par 3 holes, is tied for 31
st with a 36-hole total of 150 (76-74), while
Megan Yang is tied for 42
nd at 152 (75-77) and
Cameron Lee is tied for 53
rd with a score of 155 (75-80).
The tournament concludes with 18 holes tomorrow beginning with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
