UCI Student-Athletes Participate in Why I Vote Campaign

| By:
IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine student-athletes recently debuted a Why I Vote video, sharing their voices and encouraging everyone to vote.

"Fueled by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, UC Irvine student-athletes continue to be leaders who advocate their voices to encourage others to vote as we near the Election Day," said women's soccer player and one of UCI's SAAC Presidents, Sam Nieto. "Several of our student-athletes were fortunate to be featured in the NCAA campaign, "Why I Vote" as well as in conjunction with the Big West Cares initiative, expressing their opinions and beliefs of why they are compelled and motivated to vote."

In Partnership with the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee (MOIC) and Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAACs), UCI student-athletes will continue their advocacy this week as they take part in the third annual Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign Tuesday-Thursday (Oct. 27-29).

The Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign is meant to be a week of awareness, education and engagement showing the importance of inclusive environments in college sports.
