Anteaters in 10th After Two Rounds at Nick Watney Invite

FRESNO, Calif. -
The UC Irvine men's golf team is in 10th place after two rounds of the Nick Watney Invitational Monday at Fort Washington Country Club.
 
The Anteaters combined for a 36-hole score of 578 (296-282).
 
Senior Ramiz Jamal paced the 'Eaters as he is tied for 22nd at 1-under 141. Jamal opened with a 2-over 73 before coming back strong with a 68 (-3) to move up 25 spots in the standings. He birdied three of his first five holes in the second round.
 
Sophomore Matt Gunson is tied for 35th at 144 (71-73), while senior Jonathan Kang is tied for 53rd (146). Kang saw a 10-stroke improvement in the second round where he carded a 3-under 68.
 
Senior Chris Casey is tied for 65th (148), and sophomore Parker Lestz is tied for 87th (152).
 
BYU and Long Beach State are currently tied for first at 14-under 554. LBSU's Hunter Epson (132) is the individual leader with a one-stroke lead over the Cougars' Peter Kuest (133).
 
The final round of the Nick Watney Invitational is scheduled for an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
