SACRAMENTO -
The UC Irvine men's track & field team wrapped up action at the NCAA West Preliminaries Saturday afternoon at Hornet Stadium.

Redshirt freshman Kyle Tsu was the lone Anteater in action on day three. He came in 45th in the shot put, finishing two spots ahead of his seed entering the meet. Tsu was part of an elite field that featured 10 individuals who were ranked among the top-15 in the nation.

In Flight 1, Tsu opened with a toss of 53-06.25. He then saw an improvement of over two feet at 55-06.5. That stood as his best mark of the day after fouling on his final attempt.

Tsu concludes an impressive debut season for the 'Eaters. He was UCI's first NCAA West Prelim qualifier in the men's shot put since Mason Miller (2013-15). The Huntington Beach native also earned all-conference honors with a third-place showing at the Big West Championships. In addition, he made his way up to No. 3 in school history with a collegiate personal-record 57-11.25.
