SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team shot a final-round 373 to finish 12th in a loaded field at the Western Intercollegiate Wednesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

The Anteaters concluded the tournament with a 6-count-5 total of 1114 (372-369-373).

No. 16 Stanford carded a tournament-low 340 over the final 18 to run away with the team title at 1040, finishing six strokes ahead of 11th-ranked Cal (1046). Host San Jose State came in third (1051), while No. 6 USC (1052) and No. 19 Pepperdine (1060) rounded out the top-five.

Ramiz Jamal had another solid round for the 'Eaters at 1-over 71. After three consecutive bogeys to start his second nine, Jamal settled down with four pars and two birdies over the final six holes. He tied for 26th with a 54-hole score of 214 (72-71-71).

Anthony Truong tied for 60th with a total of 222 (72-75-75), while classmate
Chris Casey tied for 63rd. Casey birdied two of his last four to post a 3-over 73 for the round and a 223 (79-71-73) for the tournament.

Jonathan Kang tied for 74th at 228 (76-76-76), and freshman
Matt Gunson tied for 79th at 231 (74-79-78). Freshman
Nathan Irwin rounded out the Anteaters' lineup in 81st (233).

Stanford's Isaiah Salinda birdied the 18th to come in at 8-under 202, tying Sean Yu of San Jose State for first and forcing a playoff. Salinda went on to claim the individual title as he edged Yu on the fifth playoff hole with another birdie on the 18th.
UC Irvine will now have a little over a week to prepare for the Big West Championships which will be held at Wailua Golf Course in Lihu'e, Kaua'i, April 29-30.
