ELK GROVE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team recorded its best round of the spring season to finish ninth overall at the Sacramento State Invitational Tuesday at Valley Hi Country Club.

The Anteaters shot a final-round 286 to move up four spots in the team standings. They finished with a 54-hole score of 873 (292-295-286), two strokes behind UC Santa Barbara. Cal State Fullerton (847) claimed the team title.

Junior
Ramiz Jamal notched his second top-10 individual finish of the year as he tied for ninth. He did not have a blemish on his scorecard on the final day of the tournament, while firing off five birdies for a career-best round of 5-under 67. He climbed 21 spots on the leaderboard with a total score of 212 (71-74-67).

Freshman
Nathan Irwin carded a 1-over 73 to come in at 220 (72-75-73). He tied for 39th.

Junior
Anthony Truong tied for 46th with a score of 5-over 221 (73-73-75). Junior
Chris Casey also tied for 54th at 223 (76-76-71). His 1-under 71 in the third round was a season best.

Jonathan Kang rounded out the 'Eater lineup in a tie for 64th (226).

Cal State Fullerton's Jack Dyer was individual medalist with a 10-under 206 (69-66-71).

UC Irvine will get a short break before returning to action at the Cal Poly Match Play tournament, March 25-26.
