Scott Stadick Picks Up Big West Defensive Player Of The Week Accolade Again

IRVINE, Calif. -- Scott Stadick earned his second Big West Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award this season and the seventh of his career after leading UC Irvine at the net last week.

 

The 7-foot middle blocker averaged 1.67 blocks and 2.25 kills over 12 sets.

 

The junior tied his season-high with eight blocks against the Waves, including three consecutive rejections in the decisive fourth set when the team was on a 6-0 run after being down 24-19.

 

Stadick had five block assists against Concordia as UCI notched a season-high 15.5 blocks for the match. He also had seven blocks (one solo) versus USC.

 

He was effective offensively with a .426 (27-7-47) hitting percentage for the week, including a season-high tying 10 kills versus Pepperdine.

 

Stadick leads the Big West and is fourth nationally in blocks with a 1.41 average overall.

 

This week, No. 4 UC Irvine will travel to Grand Canyon Friday (Feb. 1) for a double-header with Charleston and the host Antelopes before entertaining No. 15 USC Saturday (Feb. 2) at 7:00 p.m. at the Bren Events Center.
