Tournament Draws/Results

LA JOLLA, Calif.- UC Irvine had one pair advance to the Round of 32 while another pair advanced to the Round of 64 on the first day of the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship Friday at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.

Bruce Man-Son-Hing teamed up with assistant coach Tyler Pham to finish the day 2-1, advancing all the way to the Round of 32.  First, the pair defeated Ryland McDermott and Pierre Tafeleski, 8-4, before knocking off Justin Agbayani and Oleksandr Krasnov, 8-3. Man-Son-Hing and Pham were ultimately upended by Ohio State's Brady Draheim and Eleftherios Theodorou, 8-5.

The duo of Luis Lopez and Daniel Gealer finished the day 1-1. The pair defeated Villanova's Daniel Martinez and Matthew Phelps by a score of 8-1 to advance to the Round of 64. Lopez and Gealer fell to USC's Cukierman and Smith, 8-2, in the round of 64.

UCI had two pairs fall in the Round of 128 while Vatsal Bajpai and Bruce Man-Son-Hing did not compete due to injury, sending the two tandems into the consolation bracket. In the second round, Mason Hansen and Luca Marquard won 8-5 over Phillip Martin and Matthew Sah. Antoine Barthe and Takeru Wantanabe had a second round bye and defeated Zachary Ermert and Naara Shin, 8-4, to advance to the fourth round tomorrow.
