Play Suspended Due to Darkness at Bill Cullum Invite

The UC Irvine men's golf team sat in 14th place when the second round of the Bill Cullum Invitational was suspended due to darkness on a windy Monday at the par-72 Wood Ranch Golf Club. Round two will resume tomorrow at 8 a.m., followed by the immediate start of the final round.
 
Junior Ramiz Jamal was one of two Anteaters to complete 36 holes. He leads the squad after carding back-to-back rounds of 1-over 73 to tie for 26th (146). Jamal had a team-high eight birdies on the day.
 
Freshman Nathan Irwin is tied for 63rd with a two-round total of 152 (80-72). Irwin got off to a rough start, but bounced back with an eight-stroke improvement as he shot a team-best 72 in the second round.
 
Junior Anthony Truong recorded a 75 (+3) through the first 18, and is currently 6-over with one hole remaining in the second round. He is tied for 71st.
 
Freshman Matt Gunson (78th) and junior Chris Casey (88th) also have one hole to complete before the final 18 tomorrow morning. Gunson, who struggled through the first round (81), is on the rebound as he sits at 1-over in round two.
 
Junior Jonathan Kang is competing as an individual and is tied for 71st with a 36-hole score of 153 (77-76).

UC Santa Barbara leads the 17-team field at 14-under, while the Gauchos' Zach Smith is tied with UCLA's Bryan Wiyang Teoh for first at 138 (-6).
 
UC Irvine will wrap up action at the Bill Cullum Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
