LAST WEEK RECAP
The Anteaters grew their unbeaten streak to four matches with a win and a draw over the weekend. The 'Eaters outshot Penn, 19-4, but still could not break through playing to a scoreless draw on Friday night.

UCI wasted no time on Sunday scoring in the second minute against Toledo and adding goals in the 22nd and 81st minutes en route to a 3-0 victory.

With the results, the Anteater defense added to its shutout streak which now stands at 420 minutes. It's only the fourth streak to reach 400 minutes in program history. The three longer streaks are 500 minutes (1990), 513 minutes (2007), and a unofficial program record 597-minute streak in 1988 spanning six matches from October 1-16.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
UC Irvine works a road match and home contest into the same week staying local to play at LMU before coming home for its recently-added match vs. Oregon.

LMU is flying high right now with a 3-1-1 record unbeaten in its last four fresh off a draw with No. 23 Northwestern and win over No. 17 Utah. Even their lone defeat came at the hands of No. 21 Rutgers. The Lions are coming off an 11-win season in 2016 that included two wins and a draw against ranked opponent. They've had the 'Eaters' number recently beating them in their last meeting in 2014, 2-1, which evened up the overall series at 5-5-3. Sarina Bolden has accounted for a pair of goals and an assist while leading the squad in shots and shots on goal. Ten other Lions have earned a point this season, but the backline has taken the headlines led by Charlee Pruitt who was recently named United Soccer Coaches' National Player of the Week following her shutouts and eight saves.

The 'Eaters will return home for a Sunday afternoon match against Oregon. The Ducks are also trending in the right direction winning three straight over Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Cal Poly. UO went 8-10-2 in 2016 including a 3-2 defeat to UCI where the 'Eaters netted the game-winner in the 88th minute. Kyra Fawcett has two goals already after returning from a five-goal campaign that led the club. Marissa Everett led with five assists last season, but has found her scoring touch with a pair of goals this year. Halla Hinriksdottir has made made 12 saves and allowed one goal over her last three matches in net.

WONDER WOMEN
The Anteaters' stellar week was rewarded with a pair of player of the week mentions from the Big West, the fourth time UCI has swept the weekly awards, but first since the 2013 finale when Jordan Bruce and Laura McGrail comboed on the effort.

Kiana Palacios was named player of the week on the offensive side after netting three goals and an assist, and putting away both game-winners. Surprisingly, it was her first weekly award as an Anteater for the former All-West Region and two-time All-Big West honoree.

The defensive side was handled by Reema Bzeih, her first honor as well, after totaling three assists on top of the three shutouts she and the backline commanded. Her two-assist match vs. Toledo was the second of her career while the shutout streak her defense has amassed is now the fourth-longest in program history now up to 420 minutes.
