No. 6 UC Irvine will return to Big West action, traveling to No. 11 UC Santa Barbara Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. match at the Campus Pool for the lone game of the week.
ABOUT THE GAUCHOS
The Gauchos are 15-9 overall and 0-2 in the Big West. UCSB is coming off a 19-2 loss against UCLA in Hawaii.
The last time the two teams met, UCSB won 7-6 in sudden death overtime in the eighth period of a semifinal of the 2016 Big West Tournament held in Santa Barbara.
ON THE RECORD
UCI extended its win streak to eight straight and are 17-6 overall. The Anteaters are 2-0 versus Big West opponents, the only league team still without a loss this season.
REWIND
Last week, the Anteaters beat CSUN, 15-5 and UC San Diego 6-3. Mary Brooks led the Anteaters with six goals over the two games, scoring four in the win over the Matadors.
NELSON DEBUTS
Senior goalkeeper Annika Nelson made her season debut in goal last week, recording 17 saves and holding opponents to eight goals over 64 minutes of action.
She led the Anteater defense to a shutout of the Tritons for the first three quarters.
MOVING UP THE RECORD BOOKS
Mary Brooks leads the team with 46 goals followed by McKenna Mitchell and Kelsey Thornton with 40 apiece.
Mitchell currently ranks sixth in UCI career goals with 171, while Brooks is ninth at 137.
