"The team did very well for what we as a staff had projected them to do individually," UCI head coach Jeff Perkins said. "We are happy to start our season the way we did and look forward to the challenges we have coming up in the month of March, and we look forward to getting back to competing at Fullerton next weekend."
Seniors Lloyd Sicard, Antwon Parker and Brandon Howard, along with junior Michael Hamill, combined to win the 4x100 relay in 41.61 seconds. In the 4x400, Sicard, sophomore Paul Resong, Parker and Jewett finished ahead of the pack in 3:13.22.
