Isaiah Jewett Repeats as Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore Isaiah Jewett collected his second-straight Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Jewett was recognized for his impressive performance at the Anteaters' home-opening UCI Spring Break Collegiate Classic where he won the 800m in a personal-record 1:49.14. He beat his previous best by 5.24 seconds and now ranks first in the Big West, second in the West Region, fifth in the NCAA and fifth in school history.

The Inglewood, Calif., native also ran a 46.3 split on the final leg of the 4x400 relay, helping his team to a third-place finish with a season-best 3:11.75. That mark leads the Big West by over three seconds.

Jewett currently sits at the top of the conference leaderboards in the 400m, 800m and 4x400.

Jewett and the rest of the 'Eaters will be looking to carry the momentum from their successful home opener into this weekend's UC Riverside Spring Classic Invitational, March 23-25.
