SEATTLE, Wash. – The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team wrapped up action at the MPSF Championships Saturday at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor.
Senior Megan George scored for the 'Eaters with a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdle final. George, who ran a school-record 8.44 earlier this year, came close to that mark as she clocked in at 8.49 seconds.
Freshman Anastasia Karnaze established a lifetime-best 5:01.48 to lead five Anteaters in the mile. She finished 36th overall and now ranks fourth in school history. Senior Marisa Gonzalez also established a personal-record 5:07.69 to put her at No. 7 on the UCI all-time charts. Freshman Keely Boyd (5:23.86), senior Aliya Shah (5:26.84) and sophomore Megan Mirkhanian (5:27.27) rounded out the group.
Senior Crystal Lizaola had a top-20 showing in the 800m as she crossed the finish line in 2:13.57 (19th).
In her first 400m race of the year, senior Saniya Syed placed 43rd with a time of 59.75.
UC Irvine will now get ready for the outdoor season as it heads south to La Jolla, Calif., for the All-UC Championships next Saturday, March 4.
